Dove Pax Announce "In These Times," Their Forthcoming Second Album, and Return to the Stage

Portland, Maine indie and art rock duo brings their cinematic, story-driven sound back to live performance ahead of a fall 2026 release

Portland, ME — Dove Pax, the Portland-based indie and art rock project led by husband-and-wife duo Jessica and Ryan W. Richards, is returning to live performance this year ahead of "In These Times," their forthcoming second album, currently in final mix and targeted for a fall 2026 release.

The band has spent the past several years writing and recording, building on a catalog that spans three releases: debut single "Change Like a River Flows" (2020), the four-track EP "A Sense of Hope" (2022, mastered by Sterling Sound, NYC), and 2024 single "Child of the Universe" (mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Adam Ayan, whose credits include Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen). Each release has been produced in-house through Dove Pax Productions, the band's independent label and production company.

"A Sense of Hope" brought the duo regional recognition: a feature in the Portland Press Herald, airplay on WCLZ's Wednesday night local music program hosted by Aimsel Ponti, and a congratulatory note from the office of Maine State Representative Ben Chipman. The EP established the thematic territory Dove Pax continues to explore: songs built around growth, resilience, and the search for common ground, rendered in arrangements that move between classic rock drama and impressionist texture, anchored by Jessica's striking, lush vocals.

Jessica, originally from Paris, moved to Shanghai in 2002 as a performer at a French cabaret and spent 13 years there working across Asia as a composer, sound designer, and music producer. Ryan, a Portland native, arrived in Shanghai in 2008 as a musician and recording engineer. They met in a recording studio, began collaborating, and eventually married. The couple relocated to Portland, Maine in 2015, where they founded Dove Pax Productions in 2019 and built a recording studio to support their work and the work of collaborating artists.

"In These Times" extends the direction established by the EP and "Child of the Universe": cinematic in scope, grounded in themes of resilience and clarity during periods of uncertainty, and produced to the standard the band has consistently prioritized. With a fall 2026 target, Dove Pax is actively booking regional performances across Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts in advance of the release. The duo performs as guitar and voice, with full band configurations available for larger venues.
